Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to all training courses advertised and sold at https://c-tec.store which are provided by Computionics Limited, trading as C-TEC (VAT Number GB 344 0372 81, Company Registration Number: 01559261) operating from Challenge Way, Martland Park, Wigan, Lancashire WN5 0LD, United Kingdom.

The training courses are delivered by Ember Compliance Ltd of Axwel House, 2 Westerton Road, East Mains Industrial Estate, Broxburn, EH52 5AU, and all content and training materials remain the intellectual property of C-TEC/Ember Compliance Ltd.

CPD certificates will be given after each training course by C-TEC, confirming the CPD hours gained during the course.

Please read the below statements thoroughly before purchase. By placing an order, you are entering into an agreement with C-TEC and accepting the following terms and conditions.

 

1. Definition of terms

1.1. In these terms and conditions, unless otherwise stated, the below words and terms will have the following meanings:

“C-TEC”: Computionics Ltd, T/A C-TEC, manufacturer and distributor of life safety equipment, and includes its directors, employees and agents. The training courses will be organised by C-TEC on behalf of Ember Compliance Ltd.

“Ember”: Ember Compliance Ltd. The company responsible for delivering the content of and certification of the training course(s) on behalf of C-TEC

“Customer”: the company who has booked the training course, this may be the delegate or a person from the same company who has booked the course on behalf of the delegate.

“Delegate(s)”: the person(s) attending the training course.

“Training materials”: any documentation provided throughout the duration of the training course.

“Writing”: any transcribed method of communication, including email.

 

2. Bookings and Training

2.1. All bookings must be made via C-TEC’s web store at https://c-tec.store

2.2. Bookings cannot be made via other means such as email, telephone or through a third party.

2.3. All training courses must have a minimum of 4 attendees before the course can proceed.

2.4. All course materials and methods of training provided during the course(s) will remain the property of C-TEC/Ember and must not be copied or distributed to any other parties.

2.5. The training courses, training materials and the examination will be delivered in English. All delegates must be made aware of this.

2.6. The customer must make any delegate(s) aware of the course content and expectations before attendance. C-TEC will not be liable for miscommunication between the customer and delegate.

2.7. Delegates must comply with any instructions given during the course and must display appropriate conduct at all times.

2.8. C-TEC must be made aware of any learning impairments or health needs 28 days before commencement of the course so that additional arrangements can be organised. This also includes any dietary requirements for the refreshments and lunch provided.

2.9. C-TEC will not be held liable for any health or disability/learning impairments that emerge during the training course(s), as prior awareness should have been indicated before the commencement of the course.

 

3. Examination

3.1. Attendees who have successfully completed all of the BS5839-1 course modules will be eligible to sit the examination. This will be at an additional fee to the customer and a regulated FireQual certificate in the Fundamentals of the Recommendations for Fire Detection and Fire Alarm Systems in Non-Domestic Buildings at SCQF Level 6 will be awarded to all those who pass. 3.2. All examinations must be booked via C-TEC’s web store at http://c-tec.store/homepage/.

The examination will be accredited by EAL.

3.3. A refresher course is included in the fee for any examinations that are not sat at the end of our five-day cluster course and this will take place prior to the exam.

3.4. All delegates are expected to prepare sufficiently for the exam with the training materials provided.

3.5. In the event of a pass, a qualification certificate will be sent to the address provided on the booking form. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the correspondence address is correct upon booking a place on a training course.

3.6. In the event of a resit, the first resit will be charged at half the price of the full examination fee. Any additional resits must be paid at full price.

3.7. C-TEC and Ember are not liable for any failure of the exam as all of the training materials provided are suitable for the passing of the exam.

 

4. Fees and payment

4.1. All training course fees are listed on the website, excluding VAT, which is charged at the current rate.

4.2. The training fees include the course(s) booked, all C-TEC/Ember written training materials received during the course(s), any refreshments and lunch. Reference copies of BS 5839 part 1 remain the property of C-TEC and must not be taken away.

4.3. The customer will pay the fee advertised upfront using PayPal with either PayPal/debit/credit card. C-TEC recommends that anyone booking a training course reads and accepts PayPal's terms and conditions before proceeding with the booking.

4.4. Payment will not be accepted by invoice or telephone.

4.5. Payment must be received before confirmation can be sent booking delegate(s) onto the requested training course.

4.6. VAT will be charged at the appropriate rate during checkout.

4.7. C-TEC does not have access to any debit/credit card details or any personal information entered during the payment window. This information is also not stored on any C-TEC website servers.

4.8. C-TEC reserve the right to change any fees listed on the website and training materials at their discretion.

 

5. Transfer of booking

5.1. The booking can be transferred to another delegate at the same company without charge if notice of the change is given to C-TEC in writing at least 14 days before the course is scheduled to occur.

5.2. Bookings can be transferred to an alternative date if notice of the change is given to C-TEC in writing at least 28 days before the course is scheduled to occur. Any transfers within 28 days of the course will be subject to the cancellation fees as detailed in section 6. The customer will be expected to pay the full course fees for the new booking.

 

6. Cancellation

6.1. The customer must inform C-TEC’s Marketing Department of the cancellation of place(s) on a course in writing, preferably 28 working days before commencement of the course.

6.2. Refunds will only be given in the following circumstances:

6.2.1. A full refund if attendance is cancelled 28 days before the course is scheduled.

6.2.2. A 50% refund if attendance is cancelled 14 days before the course is scheduled.

6.2.3. No refund will be given if attendance is cancelled within 14 days of the course’s scheduled date.

6.3. Non-attendance of a delegate will be deemed a cancellation and no refund will be given.

6.4. C-TEC and Ember reserve the right to cancel a course at any point before commencement. In the event of cancellation, all delegates will be informed with sufficient notice.

6.5. C-TEC will not be liable for any costs incurred by the customer in the event of their cancellation of a training course, and every effort will be made to arrange an alternative date for attendance.

 

7. Health & Safety

7.1. All delegates will be briefed on the health and safety practices in place before the course commences.

7.2. All delegates must ensure they understand the health and safety practices and inform the training provider of any questions before the course starts.

7.3. It is important to note that there is a practical element to the training courses and a sufficient level of competency working with fire panels/electronic equipment is required beforehand from every delegate.

7.4. C-TEC or Ember will not accept any liability for any personal injury or adverse outcomes sustained during a training course.
